Hi all!
It is that time of the year, when we start thinking about skiing
once again. I was at the Tussey Mountain swap meet a couple
weeks ago, and that convinced me that skiing is alive and well
in central Pennsylvania. That place was wall-to-wall people!
It really seemed like a feeding frenzy, with the early birds
definitely getting the best equipment.
The Board of directors has recently met and elected the officers
for this coming year. The Board plays out as follows: President,
Dave Dix (yours truly), VP, Rob Tawse, Secretary ,Margo Clouser,
and Treasurer (for his 85th term), Charlie Zendt. The Executive
committee agreed on the following: 1. A new sign for the club.
The old one is not very legible because father time has taken
his toll. 2. Have a flag made, to be installed on the corner
of the club nearest the main lodge. 3. Have the Social Committee
come up with a social calendar for the upcoming year. 4. A $10,000
grant for President Dix to explore the slopes of Chile and Argentina
in hopes of establishing a branch club office "off-shore".
Actually
the executive committee felt this was a
little excessive, but to avoid a filibuster, an eleventh hour
compromise was reached in which Mr. Dix would once again be
in charge of the tap system at the clubhouse!
I just took note of the T-mart schedule, and saw something that
had some personal interest. During January and February there
will be a Masters training program, which will be held Wednesday
evenings. I plan on participating, along with Rob Tawse, and
I hope, a few others. I expect the Citizens League to be more
competitive than ever. We could possibly field two or even three
teams (in addition to the all-star Team Farwell), and maybe
even initiate a racer of the year award. Look out Bode
.
we are going to be on your tail! Actually, I think this could
be a part of a very fun season.
Things seem to be coming together for the 2003-2004 social season.
The Beer Meister, Herr Dix, has already been working on the
tap system to make sure it is up to the task for this season.
It is presently in for its 5000-keg tune-up. Henry Margusity
has taken on the task of refurbishing the sign on the clubhouse.
The Social Committee has already met and has put together a
tentative schedule for this season. The chairperson of the committee
is Margo Clouser (thanks Margo). She is assisted by Rob Tawse,
Elena Slobounov, Bob Havice, Becky Patterson, and Henry Margusity.
Please check the website for updates as they occur. Please keep
in mind that we always need help on the weekends. Please contribute
some of your culinary delights anytime.
Treasurer, Charlie Zendt, has informed me that we will have
some new faces in the club this season. Welcome to the club!
One last item of business, our website has been redesigned courtesy
of Peg Dobrinska and statecollegecentral.com. Thanks, Peg! That's
about it, I have got to sharpen my edges and wax the bases 'cause
the games are about to begin!
